Donald Swanson, D.D.S.
Dr Swanson is a native of Washington. He is a graduate of Western Washington University. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Washington. While in dental school, he was selected for a clerkship at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, California. Dr. Swanson spent five years in the United States Navy Dental Corps after graduation. Three of these years were spent in the Philippines at Subic Bay Naval Station and two were spent at Sand Point Naval Station in Seattle, Washington. He was a founding member of the Joint US-Philippines Military Dental Association.
Dr. Swanson is a member of Seattle Orthopedic Gnathologic Seminar and Seattle Gnathology Study Club. He has completed hundreds of hours of continuing education in orthodontic, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. He is also a member American Academy of Gnathology Orthopedics, International Academy of Gnathology and American Dental Implant Association.
Dr. Swanson and his staff are volunteers with Medical teams International. They have worked ten consecutive years at Lakeview Elementary School. Dr. Swanson finds this time working with the children as one of the most rewarding services he and his team have had the pleasure to be involved with.
Dr. Swanson loves to ski! He started instructing in 1964. He is a Level III, full certified, instructor. He has been working with the John Mohan
Ski school at Summit Central, where he has been instructing students and training Instructors since 1980.
Dr. Swanson was a member of the Tacoma Downtown Exchange Club and served as its President from 1996-1997.

Juli, Office Manager
Juli, our Office Manager, has been with Dr. Swanson since July 2009. Her career in dentistry began in 1989 where her main focus has been maximizing dental insurance benefits for patients. Her strong communication and leadership skills are an asset to the office. The five years she spent as a Customer Service Representative for Washington Dental Service provides her with a strong understanding of dental insurance coverage and the best utilization of patient benefits. She will also discuss financial arrangements that make dentistry affordable.
Outside the office she enjoys spending time with her husband of 18 years, her two sons and her teacup Chihuahua, Maddie. She also enjoys riding on her husband’s Harley, gardening and spending time with friends.
Miriam, Administrative Assistant
Miriam is the newest member to our team! We welcome the versatility she brings with over 16 years of clinical and administrative experience in the dental office. Her gentle and outgoing personality provides her with all of the qualities needed to help our family of patients on a personal level. It is likely that you will hear Miriam’s friendly voice answer the phone when you call to schedule your appointment. She will do her best to find a time that works well within your schedule.
Miriam likes spending her free time with her family, two dogs and three cats. She enjoys many outdoor activities. Anything from gardening to hiking, Miriam loves it all!
Cami, Certified Dental Assistant (C.D.A.)
Cami and Dr. Swanson have been a dynamic team since she received her CDA in 1997. The true passion she has for dentistry provides her with a caring and gentle approach to her patients. Along with providing excellent dental care, she loves to educate her family of patients. Her naturally compassionate personality helps even her most anxious patients to feel comfortable. The wide scope of her position creates such a vast variety of situations and the convenience to present new ideas about, not just dental care, but health care to her patients.
Cami gives back to her community by lending a voluntary hand with a dental van sponsored by Northwest Medical Teams. It brings a smile to her heart to be able to help the children at Lakeview Elementary School.
Cami enjoys spending time with her husband and her two Labradors, Roxy and Bella. Cami loves staying active! She enjoys working out and hiking with her husband and her Labs.
Jennifer, Registered Dental Hygienist (R.D.H.)
Jennifer has worked with Dr. Swanson for ten years. She graduated from Shoreline Community College in 1988. Over the years she has continued to educate herself in the field of dentistry, health, nutrition and public health. Her compassion and love to help others has inspired her to travel to Honduras to provide dental care. She has worked three consecutive years with Medical International in remote villages with children who otherwise would not have access to dental care. She has also worked along side Dr. Swanson for the past ten years on the mobile dental van affiliated with Northwest Medical Teams. Jennifer’s patients would say she has kind and has a gentle touch. Many with dental fears have appreciated her pleasant and compassionate way. She values each person’s needs and realizes the importance of the oral-health connection.
Over the years she has raised three children and is an accomplished Age Group Triathlete. Outside of the office she belongs to a ladies group that meets monthly. Their goal is doing good deeds for others. Many non-profit groups have been recipients of their generosity.
